Rugged Fibre Optic Ratio Thermometer For Non Contact Temperature Measurement From 450 °C to 3000 °C
The Optris CTratio 1M pyrometer is perfectly suited for high-temperature measurements of metals, metal oxides, and ceramics, thanks to its short measuring wavelength and wide temperature range of up to 3,000 °C. The infrared pyrometer’s short measuring wavelength also reduces measuring errors, especially during low or varying emission levels.
Its compact sensor head enables effortless installation in confined and tight spaces. It’s also possible to measure objects that do not completely fill the sensing spot, in fact, they may be as small as just 5% of the measuring spot area and this makes it ideal where a complete view of the object is difficult or for fast-moving applications.
The IR sensor also provides reliable temperature measurements even in ambient temperatures as high as 125 °C.
Features:
• Adjustable focus from 150 mm (5.90 in) to infinity with excellent optical resolution up to 100:1
• Laser sighting for real spot size indication at any distance – green laser for best visibility on glowing
objects
• Smart Ratio Mode (SRM) – for demanding applications with adaptive slope requirements
• Rugged, electrically isolated sensing head and fiberoptic for ambient temperatures up to 315 °C (599 °F) without cooling
• Two 0/4-20 mA analogue outputs (isolated optional)
• Fast measurement with 1 ms response time

Applications
The Optris CTratio 1M pyrometer finds various applications where temperature measurements with short wavelengths are essential. These infrared thermometers are particularly adept at accurately and dependably measuring metallic surfaces in metal processing tasks like welding and sintering. Additionally, the infrared sensor is suitable for measuring metal oxides and ceramics at high temperatures of up to 3,000°C.
What is a Pyrometer?
A pyrometer is a non-contact temperature measuring device used to gauge the temperature of an object without making physical contact. It operates based on the principle of detecting the object’s thermal radiation, typically using infrared technology, making it useful for a wide range of industrial and scientific applications.
What is a Ratio Pyrometer?
A ratio pyrometer is a type of infrared thermometer that measures the temperature of objects based on their emissivity, or the ability to emit thermal radiation. It calculates the temperature by comparing the thermal radiation received from the object to that from a known reference source, ensuring accurate measurements across various materials.
