Our PPL8-T thermocouple sensor is commonly used in industrial process control where it is necessary to provide the highest quality temperature measurement whilst allowing the sensor to be easily replaced in the shortest possible time and with minimal effort. The sensor is suitable for the measurement of liquids and gases across a wide temperature range. All sensors are made to order so it is generally possible to meet all of your requirements.
The assembly comprises a 316 stainless steel pocket which can be either fabricated or drilled from solid fitted with a terminal head. Fitted inside is a spring loaded insert which can be fitted with your choice of terminal block or transmitter. The spring loading ensures that the tip of the sensor makes contact with the inside of the pocket giving the best thermal transfer and therefore response and accuracy. All wetted parts of the probe are manufactured from 316 stainless steel. Fabricated pockets are TIG welded and solid drilled thermowells are gun drilled for the best concentricity and strength. Although commonly supplied wth threaded connections, this style of probe can also be supplied with flanged or hygienic connections.
We stock a variety of terminal heads that cover all eventualities. The most popular is the aluminium alloy KNE head that is commonly used in the industry. We do however also offer other materials such as ABS, Nylon, FDA approved Polypropylene and of course 316 stainless steel for the most demanding applications. Most of the our terminal heads have IP ratings of IP67 or IP68.
We can fit a number of options inside the terminal heads that best fit your requirements. The simplest is a terminal block allowing you to connect directly to the sensor. Alternatively we can supply temperature transmitters with either a 4-20mA or a 0-10V output. Other options include intrinsically safe transmitters or those with HART protocol. We can also fit in head displays if required.
The PPL8 is also available as a RTD/PRT sensor. We are also able to supply the probe with your choice of thermistor sensor.
