Sanitary RTD Hygienic Temperature Sensor
The custom built Pt100 sensor with hygienic process connection can be manufactured to almost any stock diameter with both metric and imperial sizes readily available. Most customers use 6mm but others are just as easy to provide from 3mm upwards.
All wetted parts of the RTD probe are fabricated from 316 stainless steel and are TIG welded in our own workshop. The process of TIG welding gives a very clean consistent weld which is closely inspected to ensure there are no pits or crevices which may form dirt traps.
For the process connection type, we generally supply whatever is needed to fit directly to the connections you already have fitted on your equipment. All we need to know is the pipe size and the fitting specification, and we will do the rest. We stock the most common types such as Tri-Clamp, RJT and IDF. We don’t normally supply the seals or clamps but are happy to do this if required.
The probe can be constructed with our terminal heads that cover all eventualities. The most popular for our hygienic sensors is 316 stainless steel. We do however also offer other materials such as Aluminium Alloy, ABS, Nylon and FDA approved Polypropylene. Most of our terminal heads have IP ratings of IP67 or IP68.
We can fit a number of options inside the terminal heads that best fit your requirements. The simplest is a terminal block allowing you to connect directly to the sensor. Alternatively, we can supply temperature transmitters with either a 4-20mA or a 0-10V output. Other options include intrinsically safe transmitters or those with HART protocol. We can also fit in head displays if required.

What is a Hygienic Temperature Sensor?
A hygienic temperature sensor is a type of sensor designed for applications in industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology, where cleanliness and sanitary conditions are crucial. The construction and process of TIG welding to give a very clean and consistent weld avoiding crevices and ensuring accurate temperature measurements while maintaining strict hygiene standards.
What is a Sanitary RTD?
A sanitary RTD temperature sensor is a device used to measure temperature in sanitary or hygienic processes, such as food and beverage production. It consists of a resistance temperature detector (RTD) housed in a sanitary fitting for easy installation and maintenance.
