HVAC Office Temperature Sensor PPL9-T
The air temperature sensor is a device designed for indoor temperature measurement and is particularly suitable for HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) applications. It’s housed in a ventilated ABS enclosure that is specifically designed for dry environments. The sensor is versatile and finds its usefulness in various settings such as offices, homes, and server rooms.
The PPL9-T office HVAC sensor is available with either a 4-20mA or 0-10V transmitter, providing options for integration into different monitoring and control systems. The sensor utilises Type J, K, or T thermocouple technology, allowing for accurate temperature measurements within a wide operating range of -40 to +85°C. This temperature range covers a broad spectrum of environments and ensures that the sensor can handle both extremely cold and moderately hot conditions.
The PPL9-T sensor takes into account the humidity of the environment it operates. With a humidity range of 10 to 90% RH (non-condensing), it can reliably function in environments with varying levels of moisture content. The sensor’s housing is made of beige ABS material, which provides durability and protection for the internal components.
In terms of accuracy, the PPL9-T thermocouple adheres to the tolerance band specified in BS EN 60584-2:1993, meeting either Class 1 or Class 2 standards. This ensures that the measurements obtained from the sensor fall within an acceptable range of deviation, allowing for reliable HVAC temperature monitoring.
The PPL9-T air temperature sensor offers flexibility in its wiring system, allowing for both simplex and duplex configurations. This accommodates different wiring setups and simplifies the installation process.
The office temperature sensor can fit a number of options inside the terminal heads that best fit your requirements. The simplest is a terminal block allowing you to connect directly to the sensor.
Head Options:
- A – Nylon Terminal Block
- B – In Head Transmitter—Various types available.
- C – Mounting Plate for Customers Own Transmitter
Additional Information About Thermocouple Room Air Temperature Sensor
The PPL9 is also available as an RTD/PRT sensor. We are also able to supply the probe with your choice of thermistor sensor. At Process Parameters, we offer a comprehensive in-house calibration service and a wide choice of accessories is available to purchase.
We advise that for ambient temperature measurements, it’s generally preferable to use a Platinum Resistance Thermometer such as our PPL9-P.
Our PPL9-T HVAC air temperature sensor is made to order based on your process. If you’d like a quote or more information on any of our sensors, please contact us.
FAQs About HVAC Temperature Sensor
What is an HVAC Temperature Sensor?
An HVAC temperature sensor, also known as a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning temperature sensor, is a device used to measure and monitor the temperature within an HVAC system. It’s an essential component that provides accurate temperature readings to ensure optimal operation and control of the HVAC system.
The sensor is typically placed at key locations, such as supply air ducts, return air ducts, or in specific zones, to detect and report the temperature conditions. By constantly monitoring the temperature, the HVAC system can adjust its heating or cooling output accordingly to maintain the desired comfort level and energy efficiency. The HVAC temperature sensor plays a vital role in maintaining a comfortable indoor environment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
Why is an HVAC Temperature Sensor Used in Offices?
An HVAC temperature sensor allows for precise temperature monitoring and control, which is crucial in server rooms or data centres commonly found in offices. These areas require strict temperature regulations to prevent overheating and protect sensitive equipment. The sensor ensures that the HVAC system maintains the optimal temperature conditions to safeguard the servers’ performance and prevent potential damage.
