General Purpose Mineral Insulated Thermocouple Probe with Terminal Head
The mineral insulated thermometer with terminal head is designed to withstand operating temperatures of up to 1250°C, making it ideal for a diverse range of demanding applications. The general purpose thermocouple offers a semi-flexible sensor that can be tailored to almost any length, allowing for versatile installation.
The PPL15-T custom made thermocouple provides the option to choose from various terminal head fittings, ensuring convenient integration. With its high temperature resistance, adaptability, and customisable features, the thermocouple delivers reliable and precise temperature measurement solutions for a wide array of industrial environments.
The plain stem of the thermocouple probe is made from a choice of grades of stainless steel (321, 310, 316), Inconel 600 or Nicrobell and the tip is TIG welded closed to give a pressure-tight housing for the sensor. Mineral insulated thermocouples are available with very small diameter sheaths to give an extremely fast response. Many metric and imperial probe diameters are available from 0.5mm upwards. Note that additional support for the terminal head may be required for small diameter stems.
As a temperature sensor manufacturer, we offer a variety of terminal heads that cover all eventualities for your thermocouple. The most popular is the aluminium alloy KNE head that is commonly used in the industry, but we also offer other materials such as ABS, Nylon, FDA approved Polypropylene and 316 stainless steel for the most demanding applications. Most of our thermocouple terminal heads have IP ratings of IP67 or IP68.
During construction, we can fit a number of options inside the terminal heads that best fit your requirements. The simplest is a terminal block allowing you to connect directly to the thermocouple sensor. Alternatively, we can supply temperature transmitters with either a 4-20mA or a 0-10V output, and other options include intrinsically safe transmitters or those with HART protocol. We can also fit in-head displays if this is required.

The PPL15-T is ideal for use with compression fittings or our PPL50-TW pocket making the sensor easy to install in your process. The PPL15 is also available as an RTD/PRT PPL15 sensor. We are able to supply the RTD probe with your choice of thermistor sensor.
Our custom-built PPL15-T mineral insulated thermocouple is similar to our PPL3 style sensor but due to its construction is suitable for more demanding applications. We recommend a mineral insulated construction wherever the temperature is elevated, where there is vibration present or where the customer requires the probe to be flexible.
The RTD temperature sensor is suitable for the measurement of liquids and gases across a wide temperature range. We offer a comprehensive in-house calibration temperature sensor service and a wide choice of accessories.
