The Optris Xi 05M MeltScope is a compact, rugged, short-wavelength infrared camera with motorised focus and a 396×300 pixel detector. Designed for accurate non-contact thermal imaging of very hot metals, steel, or ceramics from 950°C to 2450°C
This camera is perfect for challenging objects because its short wavelength (500-540 nm) matches the highest emissivity of most metallic materials, leading to more reliable temperature measurements. It can also find hot spots on its own, improving its usefulness for monitoring.
With its 396×300 pixel resolution, the Xi 05M MeltScope captures detailed temperature data across its wide range. It has an excellent distance-to-spot-size ratio, allowing accurate measurements even from far away, outperforming many pyrometers. The motorised focus lets you adjust the image sharpness remotely.
Built for industrial environments, this camera is robust, durable, and waterproof, making it great for fixed installations. It connects easily to computers via Ethernet at 20 Hz for full images, or USB for a 132×100 pixel sub-image. Its smart autonomous operation means less coding is needed for integration into control systems. It features automatic spot finding, direct analogue output, and compatibility with industrial systems like Ethernet/IP and Modbus TCP/IP.
The Optris PIX Connect software is included and allows for advanced features like line scanning and image merging. This makes it a valuable tool for researchers and helps integrate the camera into various industrial setups for quality control, condition monitoring, and R&D. Plus, a range of accessories is available for harsh conditions, including water-cooled housing and air purges for lens protection.

Optris Xi 05M Additional Information & Software
The Xi 05M is supplied with the free Optris PIX Connect software, which makes integration with your system extremely simple. The license-free thermography software Optris PIX Connect is included with all infrared cameras, allowing for extensive documentation and analysis of thermal images, live temperature data analysis, alarm triggering, and device-specific configurations.
The infrared cameras and pyrometers from Optris can now also be operated easily using a smartphone or tablet using the IRmobile App for Android in the Google Play Store. The Optris IRmobile app enables users to set up and commission Optris infrared pyrometers or cameras, including viewing live infrared images with hot/cold spot detection or temperature-time diagrams, on Android devices with USB-OTG support.
Calibration and a range of accessories are also available to purchase, such as a cooling jacket or interchangeable lenses for all of our Optris infrared sensors and thermal imaging camera purchases.
Areas of Application
The integrated spot finder function identifies the hottest (or coldest) spot in the image and automatically communicates these measurements without an external PC.
The Xi 05M Industrial Imager is versatile and perfectly suited for a multitude of measuring tasks, e.g. mechanical engineering or multi-sensor applications. The autonomous operation brings thermal imaging to a much wider range of applications, and the Xi series will be attractive to machine builders and end users alike.
